The Saharan dust warning comes after a spell of warmer weather across the UK this weekend, with temperatures lifting away from the Baltic winter lows of the past few weeks.
The Met Office tweeted: “Low pressure to our NW is feeding S ly winds into the UK from the Canaries, allowing #Saharandust to be drawn N too.
“The recent satellite image below shows this in red.
“You may notice dust deposits on cars & colourful sunrises/sets next few days.”

In another tweet, he said: Snow managed to make its way all the way through the Central Belt while Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire basked in crisp winter sun.
Many people doted over the satellite pictures with one Twitter user pledging to visit Scotland from Texas after the pandemic is over.

The Met Office has named the latest weather system Storm Christoph and warned heavy rain and flooding is expected across the UK for the next three days. Parts of England and Wales can expect up to eight inches (150mm) of rainfall, with concerns over widespread flooding on already saturated and snowy ground. The Met Office has issued three weather warnings for the UK – including an amber alert level for central and north parts of England.
