EXCLUSIVE: The nation has battled a raft of mixed conditions since June, when the prolonged summer heat fizzled out. But now there is hope of a late summer blast, one meteorologist has claimed.
Temperature maps by WXCharts show the UK turn a deep red today, as the mercury soars.
At 6am this morning much of England was covered by a dark red, indicating where warmer temperatures than usual were expected.
By 6pm the chart shows Scotland and the north of England will see temperatures drop slightly, while the warmer temperatures will be felt in the midlands and northern England.
The south of England will see the warm conditions continue.
