Marcus Performing Arts Center CEO Kendra Whitlock Ingram believes two new initiatives will help the Marcus in its quest to become known as more than a building :
Its new racial equity, diversity and inclusion (REDI) plan, with numerical goals, is designed to make the composition of Marcus staff, performers and volunteers more closely resemble its community, attracting a happy cross-section of Milwaukee County to shows in the renovated Uihlein Hall with center aisles, new seats, increased wheelchair accessibility and enough spiffy HVAC updates to make Dr. Fauci breathe a little more freely.
With former primary tenant Milwaukee Symphony ensconced in its new home, the Marcus has many Uihlein dates to fill. Whitlock Ingram sees this change as Marcus opportunity to become a more active presenter. Over the next five years, expect an increase of arts and culture programming that has traditionally missed the market, primarily because there wasn t a venue to present it, she said
