The gift is in celebration of the foundation's 40th anniversary and supports upgrades being made at UH Lake West in Willoughby and UH TriPoint in Concord Township. Lake Health joined the UH system in 2021.
University Hospitals said the consolidation of the birthing centers will create a regional hub to provide the best outcomes and experiences for mothers and newborns.
About $23.7 million in upgrades will take place at University Hospitals' Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby, where the birthing unit will close. At TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township, UH is spending $1.8 million to renovate the birthing center and add a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
