The University Grants Commission (UGC) has prepared guidelines for the recognition of foreign educational degrees and the granting of equivalence, which restricts degrees acquired through distance, online mode or franchise arrangements. The UGC has also established criteria for recognizing qualifications from offshore campuses affiliated with foreign boards and foreign higher educational institutions.
Private sector partnerships for raising funds, ranking system for faculty members and the creation of "emotional infrastructure" are part of the updated UGC draft guidelines for the development of higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country.
As per the notification issued by the UGC on July 6, candidates applying for the direct recruitment against the Assistant Professor posts should either have a Master's degree with 55% marks and must have cleared NET/SLET/SET OR must be PhD holder. , Education News, Times Now
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released the UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2023, which will replace the 2019 guidelines.
As per the guidelines, UGC has asked all universities and institutions that students enrolled in PG and UG courses must be encouraged to take IKS courses which will amount to at least 5 per cent of the total mandated credits
