The Academic Staff Union of Universities' leadership has rejected a compensation package provided to it at the resumed meeting between the Nigerian government and ASUU over the union's prolonged strike action. ASUU stated unequivocally that the federal government's main argument for the meagre offer, which is a lack of revenue, is untenable. In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, ASUU President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke said the union pushed for the implementation of the University Salary Structure, a unique pay structure for university employees (USS).
