The Ramsar recognition tally of wetlands in the state of Tamil Nadu reached 10 after six more wetlands were added, informed the officials on Wednesday.
India and China now have the most number of wetlands of international importance with 10 more Indian sites entering the Ramsar list, taking the total to 64, the Union Environment Ministry said on Wednesday.
India is aiming at getting a Ramsar tag for 75 of its wetlands on the 75th year of independence, top officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) said on Tuesday.
