India News: India's longest rail tunnel on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula rail link was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The tunnel is 12.77-km long and known as T-50. Trains can now run from Baramulla to Sangaldan via Banihal. The Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section is a part of the larger Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Rail Link project with a total length of 272 km and a cost of Rs 41,119 crore.
Development works are happening simultaneously, unlike in the past when work was done in the rest of India but its benefits were either not available to the people of Jammu and Kashmir or were made available very late, the prime minister said here while addressing a public rally.
