Road-side vendors could act like super-spreaders

As the pandemic took over
Pune and the state of
Maharashtra, the state government imposed lockdown measures to curb the exponential rise in
COVID 19 cases. With new restrictions in place, the non-essential services were ordered to remain shut while essentials like groceries and
vegetable vendors could stay open from 7 am to 11 am. However, daily wage labourers have been finding it tough to survive and have taken to the streets to sell their produce despite the lockdown measures.
While roaming in localities of Katraj, Sinhagad, Aundh and a few other places across the city, one can see vegetable and fruit vendors sitting on the sidewalk, in a bid to attract customers and earn some daily wage.
