Bengaluru bed scam: Days after row, BBMP reinstates 17 suspended Covid war room workers
The 17 employees at Bengaluru s Covid war room, who were asked to leave after Tejasvi Surya alleged a bed-blocking scam mentioning names of Muslim staffers, have been reinstated by the BBMP.

Seventeen people who were suspended following a raid at a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Covid war room by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya have been reinstated by the civic body.
Three-member committee submits its report to BBMP chief
The three-member committee, which was formed to make the Central Hospital Bed Management System (CHBMS) transparent and plug loopholes, has recommended that the portal be developed on the lines of the dashboard of the government of Kerala. The committee submitted its report to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta on Friday.
According to highly placed sources, the committee recommended an overhaul of access control, a security audit, generation of daily reports and analytics, and improvements to the existing portal.

Bengaluru: The bed blocking scam of Bengaluru has taken a new turn. In their recent investigation, police confirmed that there was no involvement of all the Muslim employees unlike what South MP Tejasvi Surya said.
BJP MP Tejasvi Surya played a major part in the revelation of the bed blocking scam in Bengaluru. But later what he did gave a communal turn to the case. A video was shared on social media where the MP can be seen reading names of those involved in the case. Almost all the names mentioned were Muslims.
Congress leaders call for judicial probe
Terming the problems that have cropped up in bed allocation system in Bengaluru City a ‘BJP bed scam’, Karnataka Congress leaders on Saturday demanded a judicial probe into it. They said that the ‘exposé’ by BJP Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya and party MLAs Satish Reddy, Ravi Subramanya and Uday Garudachar was fake.
Senior Congress MLAs Ramalinga Reddy, Krishna Byre Gowda and Dinesh Gundu Rao alleged that loyalists of the BJP MP and legislators had interfered in the functioning of the bed allocation system of the BBMP COVID-19 war room and diverted beds to asymptomatic patients and denied beds to patients having severe symptoms.
Meanwhile, Surya, through his personal assistant, denied all the contentions.

BENGALURU: Sheer vengeance on the part of BJP leaders over being denied quotas in beds for respective politicians appears to be behind the ‘expose’ of the alleged bed allocation scam, claimed to have been unearthed by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya and MLA Satish Reddy.
Top officials in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Covid-19 war room did not deny the possibility of illegal practices in bed allocation, which is being probed. But they informed ‘The New Indian Express’ on condition of anonymity, the shocking details leading to the unearthing of the alleged scam and the communal twist it has taken.
