UAE fog: Dubai Police respond to 2,500 calls in 9 hours

No major accident was reported.
The Dubai Police have received 2,574 emergency calls beween Sunday midnight and 9am on Monday because of foggy weather conditions.

Colonel Turki bin Faris, Director, Command & Control Centre at the General Department of Operations, Dubai Police, said that no serious accidents were reported on Monday even though dense fog blanketed Dubai since overnight.
He said the authorities in Dubai and the neighbouring emirates such as Sharjah and Abu Dhabi activated the fog traffic system, and ensure no serious accidents took place.

Accident happened as dense fog reduced visibility.
A resident was killed and eight others injured in a multi-vehicle crash that happened in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday morning.
According to the police, 19 vehicles crashed in Al Mafraq due to poor visibility caused by a dense fog that blanketed the country. The crashed vehicles included both cars and trucks.
The police said lack of space between the vehicles was another reason for the crash.
