appointee have total power over making a decision on. kayleigh: but, sir what the whistleblower is saying is weiss, appointed by trump, said that he was not the deciding official. doesn t that directly contradict what the attorney general has said? but weiss is not saying that. isn t the source weiss? i mean, if weiss was saying that, i would have a concern. if weiss was out there saying, i didn t have total authority, there was interference, but weiss, weiss is the key person and he s not saying that. steve: and so i believe what the congressman is talking about, on friday, mr. weiss, who s the u.s. attorney for the district of delaware where they ve been doing this five-year investigation, appointed by donald trump. he sent a two-page letter to jim jordan and members of the republicans up on capitol hill and essentially what said, it was the most detailed explanation of the five-year probe of hunter biden. he denies being blocked for more serious charges in dc and
$400 billion this year. isn t it an amazing thing we finally have somebody in washington who wants to cut government spending. it s not the white house, it s not congress, its the united states supreme court. it s a great day for america in terms of getting some of our bills under control. the president says this plan b for student debt forgiveness will take a little bit longer than that executive action that the supreme court struck down, bryan, but says this time around it is legally sound. so we shall see. bryan: it could be over a year or so. live at the white house. grady, thank you. molly: the u.s. attorney in charge of the hunter biden investigation is breaking his silence on claims that his probe was influenced by politics. in a letter sent to republican lawmakers friday, david weiss writes as the u.s. attorney for the district of delaware, my charging authority is
waiting on information on the hunter biden plea deal to be turned over congress, yesterday house judiciary chair jim jordan received a response from weiss who writes he is not at liberty to provide the material sought on hunter biden. quote, first, the department of justice did not retaliate against an irs criminal supervisory special agent and whistleblower as well as his entire investigative team for making protective disclosures to congress. second, weiss says that he stands by a previous letter where he said he had ultimate prosecutorial authority consistent with federal law adding this, quote, as the u.s. attorney for the district of delaware, my charging authority is geographically limited to my home district. common departmental practice is to contact the united states attorney s office for the district many question and determine whether it wants to partner on the case. weiss appearing there to push back on these whistleblower claims going on to agree with what attorney general
what is the attorney general, merrick garland, saying about the allegation of political interference? it s significant, because this individual claims he has evidence that would contradict the public promises made that there would be no political interference into this investigation. our colleague evan perez asked garland about this a few days ago. let s take a listen. if that s the case, that the investigation is not being interfered with in any political way since an agent from mr. lee s agency has now come forward claiming whistle-blower status and alleging that there has been some kind of interference. yes, that s still the case. i stand by my testimony. i refer you to the u.s. attorney for the district of delaware who is in charge of this case and capable of making any decisions he feels are appropriate. it will be interesting to see what, if any, evidence this whistle-blower can present to support this allegation that there has been political interference. at this point
