KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Parliamentary Select Committee for International Affairs condemns the Myanmar military junta's execution of four pro-democracy activists, including lawmaker U Phyo Zeya Thaw.
They were the country’s first executions in more than 30 years. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the ousted civilian leader who was detained during last year’s coup, remains in prison.
The arrest of U Phyo Zeya Thaw and Ko Jimmy and the subsequent rounding up of 293 alleged resistance members appears to have hammered Yangon’s guerillas.
