Today (Friday, Feb 12) is Lunar New Year. While this is a time most idols would get a break and spend time with their families, several foreign idols will be unable to return home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here are 10 popular foreign idols who will be spending Lunar New Year in South Korea, without their families.
1. BLACKPINK Rosé

Roséwas born in Auckland, New Zealand, but was raised in Melbourne, Australia. Before moving to South Korea at the age of 16, after passing the YG Global Auditions in Sydney, Australia, the idol grew up in the Oceania country. Rosé spent most of her teenage years and her young adult life away from her family, but she continues to have a lot of love for them.
Of course, the list would not be complete without Red Velvet member Irene, who is known as Bae Joo Hyun in real life. Aside from being the leader of the South Korean girl group, she is also known as a singer and actress.
Gallup Korea listed Irene as one of the most loved celebrities in South Korea from 2017 to 2019. The Psycho hitmaker even nabbed the third spot in the Most Popular Female K-pop Idol, in a separate survey conducted among the soldiers doing the mandatory military service in South Korea.
Other stars who made it to the list include Hyunjin of Stray Kids, Miyeon of (G)I-DLE, Jaehyun of NCT, Minju of IZ ONE, Vernon of Seventeen, Karina of Aespa, Soobin of TXT, and Younghoon of The Boyz.
