Congress has been urged to act to stop billionaire donors after new analysis found that 12 people contributed $3.4billion to federal campaigns in the last ten years. The same 12 “mega donors” were behind $3.4billion given to US political candidates or parties in the last 10 years, an investigation has found.
The group, who are split fairly evenly between Democrats and Republicans and who have at least eight billionaires amongst them, include the late Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg.
