Dolphins announce free agent and rookie jersey numbers Photo by David Dermer-Pool/Getty Images The Miami Dolphins have announced the jersey numbers for their 2021 NFL Draft rookie class, recent free-agent additions, and incumbents who are switching numbers. The announcement came on Twitter and includes payers like first-round pick Jaylen Waddle, free agent Will Fuller V, and 2020 opt-out returnee Albert Wilson. The NFL relaxed some of the jersey numbering rules this year, allowing for an expansion of numbers for several positions. The number structures are now: Quarterbacks/kickers/punters 1-19 Tight ends 1-49, 80-90 Wilson, a wide receiver, will wear number 2 after having previously worn 15 for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Fuller, a wide receiver who signed with the Dolphins in free agency this year, will have number 3 after wearing 15 for his first five years in the league, all with the Houston Texans.

These contracts are authorized for players who are not signed to a team at the end of the season, not for players who have expiring contracts when the new league year begins. Basically, these contracts are used to re-sign practice squad players to have them available when the offseason training program begins, All 12 of Miami’s players were on the team’s practice squad. The players are defensive end Nick Coe, safety Brian Cole, cornerback Javaris Davis, cornerback Tino Ellis, center Tyler Gauthier, tackle Jonathan Hubbard, linebacker Kylan Johnson, tight end Chris Myarick, guard Durval Queiroz Neto, defensive end Tyshun Render, quarterback Reid Sinnett and long snapper Rex Sunahara.
