At a time when police departments are in need of more diversity, a historically Black college is stepping up to funnel more Black people into the pool of candidates.West Baltimore-native Tyrese Davis, 22, is part of the inaugural class of the new Lincoln University of Missouri s Law Enforcement Training Academy. He said he wants to be a police officer who brings change. I just want to help people, Davis said.Davis said he wants to change the way people see police. I know a lot of people in America, a lot of young Black males think that if they get pulled over, they re automatically going to get locked up, or are automatically going to get a ticket, or automatically going to die.
