During their talks, Barton and Locsin discussed WFP’s work in the Philippines, which began in 1968, but was formally re-established in 2006 following the Philippine government’s request to WFP to support the ongoing peace process in Mindanao at that time. “My pleasure and honor to meet @teddyboylocsin and to work in close partnership to achieve Zero Hunger in Philippines,” the new WFP representative to the Philippines said on her Twitter account.

UN’s integrated approach to humanitarian assistance in Albay and Catanduanes is strengthening recovery and resilience of typhoon-affected families Format MANILA, 9 February 2021 In the provinces of Albay and Catanduanes, the United Nations (UN) Philippines is providing life-saving support that combines cash assistance, shelter repair, and water and sanitation facilities and improvements in order to help families affected by Typhoons Rolly (Goni) and Ulysses (Vamco) recover faster and stronger. A high-level mission to assess the effectiveness of the integrated UN response in Albay and Catanduanes was led by UN Philippines Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Gustavo Gonzalez on 27-30 January 2021.
