Two Ponteland High School students have jointly won an Inspirational Young Women award. Year 13 students Polly Reed and Amelia McKenna were recognised as exceptional young women after students at the school participated in some competitions and events in February launched by Northumberland County Council to prepare to celebrate International Women s Day 2021, held on March 8. Polly is studying A-Levels in English Literature, Biology and History, and hopes to study English Literature at university. She has swam competitively for 10 years and has reached national level. Meanwhile, Amelia, who is studying A-Levels in English Language, Biology and Geography and hopes to study Geography at university, is a talented rower and has competed with Tyne United rowing club since 2015.
