Cork, Ireland   A multi-million-euro investment will see 900 sq meters of research space dedicated to quantum technology at Tyndall’s new facility on Cork’s North Mall, Ireland, and will be a key part of the Institute’s plans to double in size and impact by 2025. Tyndall is also recruiting five new senior research leaders, including a Head of Quantum Research to lead the overall Centre and who will build new quantum research teams to accelerate the growth of the centre.

Growing Kilkenny start-up seeks 10 new hires Motoklik has raised seed funding to support the creation of 10 jobs in Kilkenny. Irish motorsport tech start-up Motoklik has raised €300,000 in seed funding, which will be used to expand the company and bring its product to market. Motoklik has announced 10 new jobs on the back of this investment. The roles are predominantly in software development, sales and marketing. According to the company, initial focus will be on recruiting salespeople. The company expects to start filling these positions this year and interested candidates can send CVs directly to CEO and co-founder Jens Köpke. Full job specifications will be made available on the Motoklik website.

Dr Keeney flies the flag for women in STEM

Dr Lynette Keeney says being a mother and having a full time career is a balancing act. The Cairns Hill native is a researcher at Tyndall National Institute in Cork and has recently been awarded a prestigious Royal Society-SFI University Research Fellowship for the second time for her outstanding early career success in the area of deep-tech data storage. Described as an ambassador for careers in STEM, Dr Keeney wants to make a difference and does so by nurturing people s curiosity. She has previously hosted transition year and other students in labs, virtual primary school visits and gives career talks, even providing guidance for BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition projects.
