Two charged with possession of stolen car parts Among several auto-related felonies filed Tuesday Scott Cousins, scousins@thetelegraph.com FacebookTwitterEmail EDWARDSVILLE Two people face multiple felony charges stemming from an investigation into stolen car parts by Madison and Clinton county officials. James D. Lautz II, 30, of Troy, and Kelsey T. McClelland, 32, of Washington Park, were both charged with aggravated unlawful possession of stolen motor vehicle parts, both Class 1 felonies, and three counts each of unlawful possession of stolen motor vehicle parts, all Class 2 felonies. The cases were presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. According to court documents, on Jan. 8 the two allegedly were in possession of stolen catalytic converters from numerous vehicles. The parts had been stolen from cars in Pocahontas.

VANDALISM • Several vehicles were shot with a paintball gun about 6:48 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of North Westgate Avenue. Police were able to clean off the paint and did not see any permanent damage, according to a report. OTHER REPORTS • A caller reported a man walking up and down the street and making bird noises about 5:43 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Caldwell Street. Police could not find the man.

Welch, 27, listed as homeless out of Jerseyville, was charged March 10 with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony; two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substance, both Class 4 felonies; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor. According to court documents, on March 9 Welch allegedly was found to be in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine; less than 15 grams each of fentanyl/heroin and Adderall, and a glass pipe. Bail was set at $30,000.
