Live, from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix5 news. Gunfire. Cars crashing. This is how the chaos on a bay area freeway ended. Tonight, new information on how it all began. This all went down at eastbound 580 near broadway and tied up the evening commute for hours. Only on 5, Christin Ayers talked to a witness who saw the whole thing. Reporter a collision in a car riddled with half a dozen bullet holes. The dashboard and Steering Wheel covered in blood. Authorities say this was a rolling shootout between two cars in broad daylight on highway 580. I heard a pop, pop, pop. I looked out the window. That is when the crash happen. Reporter a man who lived nearby but didnt want to show his face on camera told me from behind a door he saw everything. I looked out the window and saw one car spin around, the other car hit it.
