GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A 13-day layoff and a month between home games proved to be worth the wait for the Grand Rapids Griffins, who allowed four unanswered tallies to the Iowa Wild in the third period but counterpunched with a pair of late goals to seize a 5-4 victory on Friday at Van Andel Arena.

Pat Nagle’s 17 saves and a franchise-first for
Riley Barber powered the Grand Rapids Griffins to their 1,000th regular season victory on Thursday, a 3-1 triumph over the Rockford IceHogs at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Grand Rapids Griffins coach Ben Simon likes what he has seen so far from defenseman Donovan Sebrango.
The Detroit Red Wings’ third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft has played in seven of Grand Rapids’ first eight games, and in the Griffins’ most recent contest at Rockford on March 3, Sebrango recorded his first career American Hockey League point. Sebrango had an assist on Tyler Spezia’s second-period goal, helping the Griffins post a 9-4 victory.

ROCKFORD, Ill. – If the 1,000th game in IceHogs history will be remembered by Rockford fans it’ll be for the wrong reasons, as the Grand Rapids Griffins rode five unanswered goals and a six-goal second period to a 9-4 win on Wednesday at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Tyler Spezia each had two goals to pace a Griffins attack that threatened several franchise records and saw 13 players record points.
After Brandon Pirri gave the IceHogs the early lead with a power play goal 4:37 into the game, Humitz was originally credited with the tying goal at 8:15. It was soon changed to
