Nevada County police blotter: Caller reports conflict over dogs being off leash

Friday 12:52 p.m. A caller from a business on Manion Canyon Road reported an ongoing issue with a home owner screaming at their delivery drivers and driving erratically when the their trucks are in the area, almost causing collisions. The home owner also called, informing that they had repeatedly called the company to complain about their delivery drivers’ speed. Advice was provided to both parties. 1:22 p.m. A caller from Jackass Flats Road, near Tyler Foote Crossing Road, reported a vehicle traveling over 100 miles per hour. 1:38 p.m. A caller from Highway 49, near Alta Sierra Drive, reported a vehicle unable to maintain lanes and varying speeds.

GRASS VALLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT Wednesday 12:55 a.m. A woman from Idaho Maryland Road called 911 and then apologized, saying it was a dare. 8:46 a.m. A caller from the 1400 block of Segsworth Way reported someone punched a man in the face. 10:29 a.m. A caller from a business on South Auburn Street reported a burglary with a door kicked in. 7:55 p.m. A caller from a business in the 1000 block of Sutton Way reported a woman possibly stole items. She could not be located. 8:40 p.m. A caller from the 300 block of Hughes Road reported a man yelling and slamming on a door. He was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.

Driver ID d in fatal wreck on San Juan Ridge

A 77-year-old San Juan Ridge man was killed in a solo vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. Philip Marria was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound on Tyler Foote Crossing Road, just west of Oak Tree Road, around 2:50 p.m. when the wreck occurred, said California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Dickinson. “He straightened out of a curve” and lost control of his Jeep for unknown reasons, hitting an oak tree, Dickinson said. Marria was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. According to Dickinson, alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been a factor, and there was no evidence of speeding or mechanical issues. There were no witnesses to the crash, he added.
