building and all the nurses came together to talk and woke the patients up and everybody s blood pressure went up. so it was scary for us. we haven t felt an earthquake in a long time. usually you re moving around, you re doing something. being in california, you like to think you re used to it but it s still scary. reporter: that man was born in the bay area and it was scary. they have a protocol there it the hospital if it was a very serious quake. this lasted about five seconds and by the time it was over, everybody knew that everybody was going to be okay. everybody felt safe. he said those are also the times when you question the structural stability of the building you re in. again, i ll repeat, no reports of any damage or injuries here even near the epicenter on the oakland-berkeley border. i m anne makovec, back to you guys. all right. anne, thank you so much for that report. joining us now on the phone we have the deputy director of the usgs. thanks for joining u

girl standing on top of the toilet seat. and said our little girl is clowning around. she broke down in tears when she found out the reason. the daughter was practicing a lockdown drill she had learned at preschool where she and the other students were told to stand on top of the toilet and to lock the door so if there s a gunman in the bathroom, he or she won t know that someone is in the stall. you know, hearing just the comment from a child at yesterday s mass shooting in tehama county and hearing her describe hitting the floor on her stomach, laying down, being told to do just that, i just thought, you know, we never did that growing up. right. we had the fire drill and the earthquake drill. the mass shooting drill never existed. i m glad that it is being done now. do you know what comes into my mind when something like this happens involving children. how do the parents feel. we are all parents here. unbelievable stress until you get there and realize and you
