St Cloud man charged with murder, makes first court appearance

Times Staff Report ST. CLOUD  A St. Cloud man made his first appearance in Sherburne County Court Monday in connection with the death of a 25-year-old man whose body was found last November near St. Cloud Regional Airport. Ricco Dejon Tyson, 43, is charged with second-degree murder and first-and second-degree manslaughter in the death of Tyler Ecklund, according to a Sherburne County press release.  Sherburne County District Court Judge Walter Kaminsky set bail for Tyson at $2 million without conditions and $1 million with conditions.  Tyson is accused of killing Ecklund and disposing of his body near the airport in southeast St. Cloud. Ecklund was found dead in a vacant lot in the 1000 block of 55th Avenue Southeast on the evening of Nov. 14. According to an autopsy, Ecklund died of a gunshot wound to the head.

An autopsy confirmed that he had been shot in the head, with his death sparking a joint investigation buy the Sherburne County Sheriff s Office, St. Cloud Police Department, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
