Coun. Garnet Thompson issued a notice of motion Monday in an online ZOOM meeting of council that he will ask council to reconsider appointing former two-time municipal election candidate Tyler Allsopp to fill an empty seat on council left vacant by the passing of the late councillor Pat Culhane.

Coun. Kelly McCaw attempted to censure Coun(s). Chris Malette and Paul Carr for their public criticisms on media and social media of an ad hoc committee to select a candidate for an empty seat on council.
But part way through her public reprimand on a point of privilege during a ZOOM online council meeting, McCaw was stopped dead in her tracks by Carr on a point of order.

Carr argued that McCaw was out of order and, citing municipal rules governing council procedure, asked Mayor Mitch Panciuk that her rebuke be shut down given that the matters she referred to were outside of the realm of discussion on hand by council.
