don t know how you are awake? she is not alone in the fight to get some better rest. apparently not. millions of women longing for a good night s rest. a shocking number have turned to sleeping pills despite the risks. here abc s andrea canning. reporter: a part of motherhood as regular as late-night feedings. sleep deprivation. increasing it is not just new moms, older mothers can t seem to get enough sleep either. i will wake up in the middle of the night. my thought will start racing. reporter: family stress and anxiety has moms like tina more dependent on sleep aids. she is hooked on tylenol p.m. nearly three in ten american women confess to taking pills at least a few nights a week. i know it is a crutch. i know. i can t stop taking it. reporter: the biggest consumers of sleep aids, women aged 40 to 59. last year over 15 million women in the age category were prescribed ambien, twice the number of men. why so many women? women today have a dual role
