Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham, is sponsoring a bill called “An Act to Ensure the Continuance of a Citizen Legislature by Tying Future Pay to the State Minimum Wage,” which aims to change that. “It’s the very, very low pay. Not keeping up with the rate of inflation, which is not keeping up with the cost of living, which is really making it impossible for the vast majority of citizens of the state to serve in the citizen legislature,” Berry told WVII.
