Men s DI Roundup: Vermont Tops UAlbany; Mark Leads LIU s Historic Win; Delaware s CAA Rout

They proved all that right in a 14-12 win at No. 14 UAlbany. Very proud of these Cats for getting their first win at UAlbany, said coach Chris Feifs in a release. We know there is still much to improve from our performance today but happy with the grit we showed to dig in against a very talented UAlbany team. Liam Limoges and Ryan Cornell especially rose to the challenge and were outstanding today for us. Back to work on Monday for NJIT. For Vermont, it showed some key things: First, Michael McCormack’s continued emergence as a threat. The Middlebury transfer stretches the field for Vermont, and he started the scoring in a back-and-forth opening section to the game. He continued with two goals and two assists.

UMBC Working Overtime to Improve Under Ryan Moran

Thu Mar 11 2021 | Patrick Stevens | College PHOTO BY JOHN STROHSACKER Tommy Lingner made 16 saves in nearly 75 minutes of action in a 13-12 quadruple-OT win over Stony Brook UMBC was in the midst of what would become the longest game in program history Saturday when the Retrievers and Stony Brook entered a fourth overtime. It still wasn’t close to the longest game in coach Ryan Moran’s career. Moran was an assistant at Maryland during a seven-overtime loss at Virginia in 2009, and the echoes of that marathon contest came to mind as UMBC looked to collect a second consecutive victory in extra time to open the season.

Quint s Top 20: A Year For Mid-Majors To Break Through

Monday March 8th, 2021 8:45am (Inside Lacrosse Photo: James Beaver) It was a weekend of little change. Loyola, Ohio State and Richmond were the only Top 20 teams to meet defeat. We have a lot to look forward to this week, and many of the best games are on television. Wednesday High Point is at Duke. Thursday Night Lacrosse debuts on the ACC Network with Virginia and North Carolina. On Saturday, Hopkins hosts Penn State, then Rutgers and Maryland play for first place in the Big Ten. Sunday, fans will be treated to Ohio State and Michigan. Why are there so many football score blowouts this season? I think there are less ‘middle tier’ teams with the Ivy sitting out 2021 and the power programs extended their lead by securing high-profile transfers, furthering the gap.  This year offers an opportunity for mid-major programs to attract more attention, to put themselves in the Top 20 and push toward the Tournament.

Balanced Offense, Faceoff Success Leads Mount St Mary s Past Delaware in Season-Opener – Lacrosse Bucket

Published on (Photo Courtesy of Mount St. Mary’s Athletics) In what was the season-opener for both teams following each of their games getting cancelled on Saturday, the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers took down the Delaware Blue Hens 10-7. Delaware came into the game limited with attackmen Charlie Kitchen, Tye Kurtz, Mike Robinson, faceoffman Jake Hervada, and multiple key members of the Blue Hens’ defense out due to COVID protocols. The absence of those key players was evident, especially early on. Mount St. Mary’s outshot Delaware 23-11 and won the ground ball battle 20-11 in the first half alone. They also had five turnovers to Delaware’s 10 in the first half of play.
