PHILADELPHIA - A Laureldale woman sued in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas after she says a hair dryer spontaneously combusted and caused serious burns.
Plaintiff Michele Sauppe-Snyder purchased a Tyche Turbo Jet Ionic 3000 model hair dryer manufactured by defendant Proxima Inc. and distributed by defendant Bell Angelo/KYCE International Inc. in July of 2020 from Amazon. On July 19, she was using the dryer with the included comb-style attachment.
The plaintiff says the dryer suddenly began emitting flames from the nozzle, setting fire to her hair and shirt.
Sauppe-Snyder suffered multiple first- and second-degree burns to the right ear, cheek, face, neck and chest, according to the complaint.
