Good morning everybody. The Committee Meets this morning to review department of defense proposals relative to the growth of personnel costs. We welcome the joint chiefs of staff to testify on these proposals to explain why they support them, what their impact is on the force and their impact on other areas of the Defense Budget. Our witnesses on the first panel are general martin dempsey, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, vice chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, general ray chiefs of staff of the army, admiral jonathan chief of naval operations, general mark welsh, chief of staff of the air force, general James Amos Commodore of the marine corps and also chief of the National Guard bureau.
