PETALING JAYA: There has been a twofold increase in Covid-19 clusters emerging in educational institutions, says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
“It was observed there was a twofold increase in the number of clusters from education institutions to 12 in (epidemiological) week 15, as compared to only six in week 14.
“There are 42 active clusters from education institutions as of April 17, ” he said in the weekly Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force press conference on Monday (April 19).
The epidemiological week 15 is from April 11 to 17, while week 14 was from April 4 to 10.
Dr Adham added that based on week 15, the bulk of clusters were from workplaces (46.9%), while the rest were from community transmission (28.1%), detention centres (4.7%) and religious activities (1.6%).
