BEECH CREEK An armed robbery at the Dollar General in Beech Creek resulted in a high speed chase along Interstate 80, state police at Lamar reported.
State police at Lamar took two people into custody following the robbery on Friday morning.
Police report that Carlos Manuel Pacheco Cortes, 33, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Sonia Santana, 22, of Milwaukee. Wis., were taken into custody. Police reported that they were awaiting arraignment and were being housed at the Clinton County Correctional Facility on armed robbery charges.
According to the report from state police, both Cortes and Santana entered the Dollar General store along Eagle Valley Road just east of Beech Creek Friday morning shortly before 9 a.m. Police say the pair filled a cart with merchandise and attempted to leave without paying. When confronted, police said, Pacheco Cortes brandished a revolver and pointed it at the clerks.
