Mainly the federal courthouse. The departments mission is very clear. We are charged with protecting federal facilities across the country. We have been protecting the courthouse in Downtown Portland since 1997 when it first opened. We began to see a rise in violent activity targeting federal facilities in late may in portland, coinciding with the death of george floyd. Let me reiterate that the department fully supports those who wish to peacefully protest. Let me say this again. We support and we will protect those who want to peacefully protest. Unfortunately what we are seeing in portland every night, roughly from midnight to 4 30 or 5 00 a. M. , is a complete opposite. 80s by 4 00. We have new information about an officerinvolved shooting. San Leandro Police shot and killed the driver behind the wheel of a car they thought swaus sto was stolen. They started chasing the suspect, the driver stopped in oakland. Police say the suspect got out of the car holding an assault style gun. An officer fired his weapon hitting the suspect. Paramedics were called but the driver died at the scene. Police say an Assault Rifle was recovered. That officer that fired the shot has been put on administrative leave which is standard protocol and since the shooting happened in oakland, the Oakland Police department will handle the investigation. San jose main jail here in downtown san jose where the armed suspect is surrounded by police and sheriffs deputies. It started around 1 30, 2 00 in the morning. According to the Sheriffs Office the suspect, an arrestee started firing off a gun we believe he somehow got from Law Enforcement. We also believe he might be barricaded within a squad car. No one has been hurt. Law enforcement, as i mentioned, has him surrounded. There are tactical teams on site. The jail itself is now on lockdown and the roads around the jail are cordoned off and all right, now on to a shut down for several blocks in shopping spree all in the name of something good. Different directions. We dont know what this man was all to support Homeless Youth arrested for, and we also dont right here in the east bay.
