While US-China relations are already stooping low due to disagreements on a range of issues, the resumption of student visa applications at the US embassy in China also got off to a rather bitter start. In a Twitter-like Chinese platform, Weibo, the American embassy’s social media post has angered several Chinese students as the citizens of the Asian country interpreted the post as the US comparing the students to dogs. Under former US President Donald Trump’s leadership, America last year had barred nearly all non-US citizens who were in China from entering the United States after the COVID-19 pandemic.
