If you remember, we gave you a heads up to a Southern Minnesota connection to last year s Kentucky Derby, the connection would be the 2013 Kenyon-Wanamingo grad Paige Gilster, formerly of Kenyon, Minnesota who was going to attend the fan-less Kentucky Derby. She and her father had a mare that gave birth to a horse entered in last year s Kentucky Derby. That horse s name is Finnick the Fierce. Finnick unfortunately was pulled from the derby a day before due to a hoof issue. So what has Finnick been up to since the September Derby?
Well since the September scratch, Finnick was pretty much resting up for his 4th year, after the hoof issue. On top of all the COVID-19 issues that postponed and canceled events, Finnick was able to get in two races so far in 2021.
