we are looking at an american athlete today, lindsey vonn, who skis in the women s sclal only. slalom. we are talking about the giant slalom. we just found out a minute ago that it is going to go on as scheduled. the weather at whistler is very nasty. there is an icy rain up there. there aren t going to be tv breaks. they will ski right through so conditions don t worsen anymore. definitely man cues oh better bet for a medal than vonn is. mancuso has dropped out of the slalom later in the week and said she didn t think she had a chance to medal and wanted to give somebody else an opportunity to be an olympian. one more thing we are watching today besides the ladies is apolo ohno. he is going to skate in the first heat of the 500 meters. this is not a medal round but could set him up for yet another record. it would be his eighth olympic medal. wow. chris jansing, thanks. coming up on thursday here on msnbc the women s ice hockey
