In light of the Covid-19 pandemic Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) were forced to quickly adapt their courses to a more agile format in order to continue delivering it’s gold standard Italian wine education. Theory sessions were moved online to be followed live or on demand, and tasting sessions using 50ml samples allowed the faculty to continue their focus on the specially developed VIA Tasting Grid for assessing Italian wine. The culmination was a fully invigilated online exam, including the use of two blind wine samples.

Agile format of the Italian Wine Ambassador Course to get roll out into Hong Kong, the USA and Verona, Italy, in March, May and June 2021 respectively. Adapting to the current situation with a hybrid format, Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) will present students from three continents with the same level of information of past editions and a special tasting kit.

VIA US and VIA Hong Kong 2021 will give prospective students the chance to meet and taste wines in total safety with the new Tasting Centres. These newly renovated centers will serve as tasting and exam spaces for students, as well as a gathering point for old and new members of the VIA community.
