Rule No. 1 of the Fiscus household: No tweeting or texting once supperâs served.
And that goes especially for Dad, whose job â Tuscola High principal â isnât always the leave-it-at-the-office variety.
âAs admins, our job is 24/7, and the need to be available is constant, and the publicâs need for information from us is high,â
STEVE FISCUS says. âTechnology has made our jobs easier in this aspect, but it also can be a major distraction.
âWe have a âno phones at dinnerâ rule in our house to help recapture some family time, and I need to do a better job of putting my phone down and staying off Twitter.â
Haywood County Schoolâs nutrition program is offering free meal winter break meal kits for children.
These seven-day meal kits are available for children ages 1-18 and can be picked up curbside at Canton Middle School or Tuscola High School.
âDecember is traditionally a hard month financially for most families,â said Alison Francis, director of Haywood Countyâs school nutrition program. âWe want to do whatever we can to help lessen that burden and provide nutritious meals for children during the school break.â
The meal kits will be available from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Only one box will be allowed per child while supplies last.
