process. miguel mar kiesau is outfront tonight in florida. what are the conditions where you are. this is some of the worst we have seen since the storm has churned off the coast. it s about 100 miles from where we are. the town and area has been preparing for about a week. a lot of people stayed thinking it was going to turn north and not affect them as much. but you can see how rough and ominous the sees are right now. a band is coming in now. the wind is picking up somewhat. it s been pretty steady winds for much of the day. but, you know, the damage here is going to be long-lasting. where we are standing right now, this used to be a dune basically. you can see how much it eroded as the first high tide that came if around noon. as the storm was offshore and hammered away at the coast, and they lost several feet of it. the other problem, this is an area sensitive for turtles. a lot of turtles come here and lay eggs. we are seeing turtle eggs all over the beach here.
this is a baby turtle egg on the beach here. the sea turtles come out of the ocean here, as you know having lived in florida, and they come out to the beach, and they lay their eggs. and you can see that here and a lot of these turtle nests have now been churned up and dug up from the winds and the ocean water that s been rising here. so those are in trouble, as well. but it is quite a scene here on singer island. the businesses have closed up. the restaurants at the beach. this is labor day, so a lot of people would normally be out here on this beach. it would be packed, kids and parents, and just everybody having a good time. and that s certainly not the situation here. palm beach airport remains closed, and people are certainly not letting down their guard just yet here in west palm beach, victor. yeah. we ve seen scores of those turtle eggs here. there are probably maybe 10 or 15 within at the point or 15 feet of where i m standing on jensen beach. that florida takes great care t
everything shut down as we wait for more of these outer bands to come our way, victor. yeah. some of the conditions that you re seeing there, we re seeing here with the turtle eggs, as well. randi kaye on singer islands. thank you so much for that report. brooke, i m going to send it back to you. as i send it back, we ve got sunshine. it s kind of just this this cycle of sun and clouds and wind and rain, and it s going to be that way for the next two days as you ve got just moving at one mile-an-hour this monster category four, 100 miles away as bands come in from the atlantic. we ll be here on jensen beach. mother nature, victor in the sun for now. victor, thank you so much. we still don t know yet if dorian will have a close even even close an impact in the u.s. as we ve seen in the bahamas, the islands have been getting pummelled by the storm. for now, 24 hours now. rescue efforts just getting underway. one death has been confirmed,
many miles long. and the debris might be concealed within the foam. so i ve been on searches like this before, not for aircraft, but for other things. and these foam lines are often places where turtle eggs and oil and so forth cumulate. so i would urge that people look for foam lines, and the winds are the best ways for nature to make foam lines. as to your question, what pie piece i hope we luck out and the searchers luck out and find a piece like the air france tail, but it s likely pieces could be small and could be now with the wind conditions, in foam lines. so it may be hard to actually pick out the pieces. so i m hoping we actually see some clearly identifiable pieces. right now what s missing is ground truth. if we actually have a piece from the aircraft that is clearly from the aircraft, then we can
