good evening i m jennifer. i m jeff. the father who threw his 3-year-old boy from the key bridge admits his guil guilt. joy is live outside the mitchell courthouse where the case took an abrupt turn today. reporter: well there were a lot of questions this morning regarding this case as to whether it was going to trial or if a plea deal was going to be entered into. when all said and done steven nelson did indeed enter into a plea agreement. by doing so e avoided a trial and also avoided the possibility of being convicted of first degree murder following the death of his 3-year-old son. now under today s deal nelson pled guilty to second degree murder as well as child abuse that resulted in death. he now faces a maximum sentence of 50 years when he is sentenced. prosecutors agreed to the plea because they were afraid nelson could have been sentenced to a psychiatric hospital instead of prison. following the hearing the mother of 3-year-old turner nelson spoke briefly on
