Automobili Estrema has pulled the covers off the new Fulminea electric hypercar, which was presented earlier today in show car form at the Turin Automobile Museum.
The new Estrema Fulminea will offer a combined 2,040 HP from its four electric motors but what sets it apart from the other electric hypercars is the battery technology; Automobili Estrema says that they are going to fit the Fulminea with a ‘hybrid’ battery pack that consists of both ultra-capacitors and solid-state cells.
Both battery technologies are considered to be cutting-edge, with the capacitors making an appearance in Lamborghini’s limited-production Sian, but we’ve yet to see a road-going electric vehicle using a solid-state battery pack.
It s the first electric hypercar to use a hybrid battery pack.
There s a new member joining the elite 2,000-hp electric hypercar club alongside the Lotus Evija, Rimac C Two, and Pininfarina Battista. It s called the Estrema Fulminea (Extreme Lightning), the first car developed by a new Italian company called Automobili Estrema. The company was founded in 2020 by Gianfranco Pizzuto, who co-founded and invested in Fisker Automotive in 2007.
What makes the Fulminea stand out is its innovative hybrid battery pack. According to Estrema, the Fulminea will be the first street-legal hypercar that combines solid-state cells, developed by Avesta Battery Energy Engineering, with ultra-capacitors.
Millionaires across the world looking to buy a 2,000HP electric hypercar will have one more option in the near future, in the form of the Estrema Fulminea that will be revealed later this month.
The Fulminea will be the first product of the Automobili Estrema, a new company established by Gianfranco Pizzuto, a former shareholder and distributor of Fisker in Europe, and based in Modena, Italy.
What makes the Estrema Fulminea stand out from the rest of the electric hypercars, in theory, is the battery pack; Estrema claims that the Fulminea will be the first street-legal hypercar to be fitted with a “hybrid” battery pack that combines solid-state cells with ultra-capacitors.
