I fell in love with theatre watching masquerades

Share Joshua Alabi is one of the young theatre producers to watch out for. The founder of Kininso Concepts talks about his love for theatre, current engagements and aspirations. Excerpts:   You got involved in theatre at a young age, and you have stayed faithful all these years. What has been the attraction? I started theatre at a very young age when I followed my mum to the village when she went to festivals. I used to see masquerades parading and magic. I just fell in love, and that was the beginning of theatre for me. Years down the line, I joined the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) while I was in secondary school. For me, theatre performance started at that point.

Solanke, Sotimirin pay tribute as highlife maestro, Chris Ajilo dies

Punch Newspapers Sections Mobola Sadiq Highlife lovers, friends and well-wishers of veteran singer, Pa Chris Ajilo, have paid tributes to the nonagenarian who died on Saturday. According to reports, Ajilo died at Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesa, Osun State. His friend and protégé, Jimi Solanke, described his passing as painful and also said he would set up a statue of the “Eko O Gba Gbere” crooner in the centre he is building in his hometown. Solanke said, “Uncle Chris, which is how I call him, was a great mentor to me in the area of bandmanship. I played with him as a member of his band, Chris Ajilo and Cubano. He was a good teacher, a great educator. He was very intelligent and talented and I learnt a lot from him because in those days when you play with a highlife band, you must know classical songs.
