A 19-year-old deaf and mute girl was allegedly raped by a man in a village in Jajpur district. The victim's mother filed an FIR at the local police station after her daughter revealed her ordeal through sign language. Police have registered a case against the accused under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and started investigation. Sign language interpreters are being used to ensure effective communication with the survivor.
