Tulare hospital restarts quest to complete long-delayed medical tower
The 16-year odyssey to build an expansion medical tower at Tulare s hospital will get another chapter after the Tulare Local Healthcare District Board of Directors appointed a community advisory committee to look at options to finally complete the project.
Tulare voters first passed an $85 million bond measure to build the tower in 2005. Construction finally broke ground in 2010, but a series of construction delays, cost overruns, changes to the construction plans, and underestimation of the cost of the project when the original bond was passed forced the district to go back to voters in 2016 to ask for more money to finish the four-story tower.
