Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海精密) is exploring new business opportunities in technologies related to low Earth orbit (LEO) and smart car connectivity, the company said yesterday.
Hon Hai chairman Young Liu (劉揚偉) last week said that an LEO satellite from Hon Hai might be seen in the sky next year, as the company aims to create more value and higher returns for its shareholders, while the firm told yesterday’s forum that Microelectronics Technology Inc (台揚科技), a 5G equipment and satellite component supplier that it fully owns via its subsidiaries, has tapped into the LEO satellite receiver market.

Major iPhone assembler Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海精密) yesterday posted better-than-expected revenue for last month, and said its business visibility for this quarter has improved since April.
Revenue last month rose 2.33 percent month-on-month and 9.39 percent year-on-year to NT$497.78 billion (US$16.94 billion), the highest for May in the company’s history, Hon Hai said in a statement.
Last month’s robust showing was aided by double-digit percentage increases in sales from its smart consumer electronics business, and its cloud-based and networking products business, as well as the effects of better supply chain management, said the company, which also known as Foxconn Technology
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海精密), a key iPhone assembler, yesterday said supply chain turbulence in China would improve in the second half of this year as Shanghai lifts COVID-19 restrictions at an orderly pace.
The company, based in New Taipei City’s Tucheng District (土城), said “logistics posed a great challenge,” although most of its more than 30 manufacturing campuses in China have not been affected by Beijing’s strict “zero COVID-19” policy and a two-month lockdown in Shanghai.
Hon Hai said it has stepped up efforts to arrange workers’ accommodations to maintain normal production under the so-called “closed loop” model.
