Show Transcript THIS WEEEKEND. WITH A FRESH LAYER OF SNOW AND WINTER BREAK, TOURISTS BY THE THOUSANDS ARE EXPECTED TO HEAD TO THE SIERRA THIS WEEKEND, DESPITE TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS. THE MAYOR OF SOUTH LAKE TAHOE SAYS THERE LITTLE THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. OUR HANDS ARE TIED. WE ALSO HAVE OUR MAIN STREET THAT’S A FEDERAL HIGHWAY. WE CAN’T PUT A ROADBLOCK ON OUR FEDERAL HIGHWAY AND KEEP PEOPLE FROM COMING HERE. AND SHE SAYS, SHE WOULDN’T WANT TO. WITHOUT TOURISTS, MANY TAHOE BUSINESSES COULDN’T SURVIVE. WHETHER TOURISTS ARE HERE OR WHETHER WE’RE SERVING LOCALS, OUR FOCUS IS JUST MAKING SURE THAT WHEN PEOPLE ARRIVE REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY’RE , FROM, THAT THEY’RE IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.
