the country? you re laughing. why does michael steele get more time as a conservative? i think he s nutty on this issue. he s a smart guy. he s nutty on the issue of birtherism. that s what he s known for now, not building buildings into the sky. the characterization can be put behind donald trump. he won t put it behind him. chris, he hasn t been talking about that. he talks about it every time he gets a chance to talk. wait a minute. let s make the point. let s see what the man says tomorrow, number one. let s tgo i think a couple things. one, donald trump is going to reframe the arguments how do you reframe the birther issue? you don t talk about it. chris, nobody s talking about it but you. you re the only person bringing it up. you did a 30-second lead-in on it. people who think the president is an illegal immigrant shouldn t be talking out loud almost anywhere. they think he s an illegal
didn t say very much about the ideas they ve offered over the last two years. they couldn t. because they want to tgo back into the same old policies that got us in trouble in the first place. as another president once said, there they go again. i mean, brilliant. there may go again. but he has, i guess i ll call it almost like a rye sense of humor about the gop. while at the same time really whether it s the zero, you know, he really brings home the idea that the republicans are at fault for the jobs numbers being where they are. sure, and he can tell it in this sort of hokie child book tale type of way. the lines that stood out to me e is when he was talking to paul ry ryan s health care attacks, saying it was brass. it obviously wasn t in his script. the other thing very few people talk about is when he talked about the medicare policy. he was talking about the people and how they rely on medicaid,
[laughter] well, professor at chicago s the greatest job on earth: jenna: oh, really? the other s a great experience. jenna: they both sound pretty good. it s nice to have a job these days regardless. that s true. jenna: you say the go-go days of housing are over, so what does the new housing market look like, or what can we expect in the years to come? well, it s a super important question because we got lulled into a false sense over the ten years from 1996 to 2006 that was totally different than any previous period in u.s. history. we went for 70 or so years before that house prices rose about 1% a year. after inflation. and over that ten years they ve rose about 12-15% a year. so we have a collapse, that was a bubble. we have a collapse, now it s great news that we re turning it around. but it s not going back to growing 12, 15% a year. it s going tgo back, most likely, to what was the old underlying, slow trend upward,
my god, that was only three years ago, and yet, i, you know, as a pretty avid reader, forgot about it, how heavy it is and forgot we re still coming through the early part of a great recession. yeah, and the full crush of what was happening to the economy occurred after the presidential election. and it seems like our political memory went into some sort of hibernation in that moment and this film vividly brings it back. i want to tgo to a clip you hav of the auto bailout. joe biden out there today campaigning about it. it looks like it s going to be a very important part of the campaign. take a look at this. a lot of conventional wisdom wanted to do what mitt romney did, let it go, can t be saved, why put good money after bad? everybody, democrats, republicans, i mean, it was overwhelming. look at the polling number. do not rescue the automobile industry. the president faced a real
