concerns. how do you see this playing out? well, mitch mcconnell made it very clear when he opened the senate that he was essentially backing up the president. he repeated his talking points. so i think mitch mcconnell will resist a special prosecutor. i want to make the point democrats may overplay their hand, as they often do, republican dozen also, when the roles are reversed. when you have a tsunami coming. you can neither hasten it or stop it. what you need to do is get out of the way. if you have some people saying we re going to hold up legislation or the appointment of a new fbi director, that s in a sense trying the shut down the government to get your way. i don t think that will play very well the american people. and to you, what leverage do democrats have right now to basically try to force home this idea of a special prosecutor? that s the challenge of being minority in both houses of congress? the rules have changed so
take 30 minutes but sometimes tsunamis can strike in less than five minutes. when you see the water retreating when you re on the shore that s when you know that a tsunami is possibly coming, if you see any fluctuation in the water and also if you hear a big roar from the ocean that s also a sign that a tsunami is near. so you need to know what to do, have a plan in place, in case this happens, but technology is advancing. we re getting better at all of this, and in years to come, we will be even better, but such a scary, scary thing. randi? certainly. lot of people unless they know when they see that water receding, we re safe. we re okay. that s when it comes. that s what happened. lot of people walked out when they saw the water retreating saying what is this when actually it was a warning sign there was a tsunami coming. great point to make, jennifer gray, thank you very much. checking some hop stories. former president george h.w.
to leave those low-lying areas. right to kathy quiano. what are you hearing and seeing from regions most at risk? we heard that the very strong quake, a magnitude 8.1 according to officials just hit the area. now, it s not clear this is an aftershock. the area has been experiencing those after the first quake hit. some residents were told went back to their homes and shopped but again moving to safer ground after this very, very strong aftershock. authorities also say they re not lifting a tsunami watch or warning yet and still telling people to stay away from the coastline if possible and higher ground. there are no reports that a tsunami watch was from the first quake but still watching and monitoring and telling people not to return to areas near the coastline so maybe their homes and their shops. kathy, how long before they know? because we can remind folks about the 2004 earthquake and subsequent tsunami. that was a 9.3 magnitude earthquake, so we re talking about
